My second favorite Mortal Kombat (after Scorpion), Smoke is coming to IAmRetro very soon, by way of Storm Collectibles. If you’re familiar with their other MK figures, then you know the quality to expect here; ultimate flexibility for posing, awesome game-accurate accessories, cool interchangeable parts, and an overall showing of love for the classic source material captured in plastic. I was pretty disappointed to not have the ninja version of Smoke in Mortal Kombat X (though the cyborg version did make of an appearance), the incredible detail of this figure almost makes up for it with its greatness and will scratch that classic Smoke itch until the next game in the series comes out.

Much like how Reptile was introduced, Smoke started out as a hidden, non-playable opponent that you had to unlock under special circumstances. Debuting in Mortal Kombat 2 (1993), he started out as a gray pallet swap of Scorpion and, has had his design evolved over time, differentiating him more and more. He was first unlock able as a playable fighter in Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), but only in his cyborg form. A few months later, in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Smoke, non-robotic and complete in his Lin Kuei ninja garbs, finally was fully playable for the first time.

The coolest thing about this figure that rounds everything out, in my opinion, are the clip on smoke pieces that attach to Smoke’s arms and legs, maintaining his game-accurate, smoke-emitting body. It’s just a nice extra touch that separates him a little more from the other colored MK ninjas you may have on your shelf.

Storm Collectables is very close to having release all of the Mortal Kombat Ninjas. After Smoke, Rain is coming out not too far behind, leaving only the women left to develop and release.

And with that, who is your favorite MK ninja? Which one has your favorite fatality? Let us know in the comments!
